Barcelona B coach Garcia Pimienta said to sign new two-year deal with Barcelona

The 45-year-old's contract expires already this June with Barca B set to participate in the promotion play-offs.
Pimienta was offered to replace Ernesto Valverde in early January.
His main achievement with Barca's youth setups is the UEFA Youth League win in 2018.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona B coach Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta is reportedly ready to sign a new deal with the club as his contract expires already this June.

Pimienta is expected to sign a two-year deal. The agreement was reached even before the coronavirus pandemic.

The 45-year-old is highly valued by the club's bosses. He was even offered to replace Ernesto Valverde in early January but refused even though he previously didn't rule out this possibility.

Pimienta has been at the helm of the reserves side since 2018. Barca B are currently second in their Segunda B side with 49 points after 28 games.

The Spanish FA have recently decided to cancel the 2019-2020 campaign for all football leagues, except for La Liga and Segunda. It means Barca B will play in the promotion play-offs which are to be held at a neutral venue. It's going to be a one-off match.

The reserves' upcoming opponents haven't been confirmed yet.

Pimienta has been a part of the club since 2001. He started as an assistant coach at Barcelona U17 and went on to become the head coach of Barca B after working with the U18 and U19 sides during his stay at Blaugrana.

One of his best achievements is winning the 2017-18 Youth League after beating Chelsea's U19 side 3-0 in the final.
