Barca reportedly keep tabs on Rayo Vallecano's promising centre-back Pascual

Barca's technical director Ramon Planes is Pascual's personal admirer.
At 1.91 metres tall, the 20-year-old is great at the aerial game.
He has already made 11 appearances for Rayo first team but received two yellow cards.

According to Marca, Barcelona are following closely the progress of Rayo Vallecano's centre-back Martin Pascual. In fact, the youngster has been on Barca's agenda.

Marca add that Barca's technical director Ramon Planes was the one to notice Pascual when he was working for Rayo in 2017.

Pascual is 20-year-old centre-back. At 1.91 metres tall, he is particularly great at the aerial game. He is calm in possession and boasts great pace.

The defender has already made 11 appearances for Rayo Vallecano first team. However, Pascual has suffered several setbacks, including two red cards and a last-minute penalty.

Marca conclude that Barca are still keeping tabs on Pascual even though there is no certainty whether they are going to sign the 20-year-old.

Barcelona have Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet, Samuel Umtiti as the first-team centre-backs. Highly promising Barca B star Ronald Araujo is another option. Finally, Barca own Jean-Clair Todibo who is currently loaned out to Schalke.

Still, Pique is getting older while both Umtiti and Todibo is expected to be offloaded in summer. As for Araujo, he has made just one first-team appearance this season. His promotion could be hampered unless he obtains Spanish citizenship.
