Messi has praised 4 Liverpool players: Here's what they said of Leo
Barcelona captain Lionel Messi recently showered praises on four Liverpool players - Alisson Becker, Sadio Mane, Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah. Tribuna.com looks at what the Reds superstars have also said about the Argentine.
Barca talisman Lionel Messi praised four Liverpool players when he designed a set of Topps Champions League trading cards for 2020 last week.
Alisson Becker, Sadio Mane, Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah earned the respect of the Argentine playmaker.
Below is what the mentioned players have also said about Leo.
Alisson Becker
Speaking about the Ballon d'Or ahead of the Club World Cup final last year, the Brazilian goalkeeper remarked that he, Salah, Van Dijk and Mane could win it but put Messi in an exclusive class.
He said: "But Messi is from another planet and deserves it too. I’m a big fan of him. We have time in front of us whereas Messi is starting to finish his career. We have a long time to achieve it but it’s not the most important thing. We need to win titles for the club and national team. That is all I desire for my career."
Virgil van Dijk
The best defender in the world mentioned Messi when he was asked to name the toughest striker he's faced in his career during a Q&A last week: "There are some difficult strikers out there but probably Leo Messi."
Sadio Mane
Mane is also a huge admirer of the Barca maestro. The Senegalese revealed last year that he would vote for Leo ahead of his teammate Van Dijk at the Ballon d'Or.
He said: "Yes, for sure...after Virgil (van Dijk). No, Virgil is a great, great player, but sorry, Virgil, it has to be Messi before you."
Mohamed Salah
The Egyptian winger also rated Messi as a top player alongside his eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the 2018 Champions League final: "I said before that Ronaldo and Messi are top-level players, who are consistent. I aim to be consistent with my level, too."
