‘That is just wee daft Billy’: ex-Rangers Lewis explains what makes Gilmour so special
Gilmour has shot to prominence with his back-to-back MoTM performances against the Merseyside teams.
Lewis Ferguson, Gilmour's ex-Gers teammate is proud of his pal.
He highlights Billy's hard work and dedication as the main virtues.
Gilmour could become an inspiration for all kids in Scotland he adds.
Billy Gilmour's impressive back-to-back displays against the Merseyside teams have made the lad an overnight sensation.
His former Gers teammate Lewis Ferguson, meanwhile, is hardly surprised by Billy's eye-catching display, and here's why.
“I’m delighted for Billy to see him doing so well at Chelsea,” Ferguson told the Scottish Sun. “We were both at Rangers, albeit he was a few years below me, but I knew him. We went our separate ways before coming back together with Scotland.
“He has gone to Chelsea and it has proved to be a great move for him. He has kicked on massively since he has gone there. When I watched him against Liverpool and Everton he was bossing the midfield and I was laughing to myself thinking, ‘That is just wee daft Billy’.
“When we are with Scotland he is this funny wee guy who gets along with everyone, then you turn on the TV and see him dominating games in the biggest league in the world. I am sure boys of 13, 14 and 15 will be looking up to Billy now and thinking they can do what he has.
“Billy has put in the hard work and dedicated himself to being the best he can be — and he is getting his reward. It is good for young Scottish boys to be watching a guy like him up against the best players in the world.”
The 18-year-old Scottish sensation had his moment of fame against Liverpool and Everton. The youngster showed maturity beyond his age playing at the base of midfield.
The fans will most definitely be looking forward to more of the same once the quarantine is lifted.
